I am so proud of this film that I scored last year! Written and directed by the amazing Mauri Bernstein, this film challenges our perception of aging. I love it's positive message and I think it inspires the idea that aging really is a mindset.
About the score: Mauri wanted the film to have a Latin/Salsa vibe and she wanted it run throughout. Mauri directed, shot and edited this film solo. Apart from the people on screen the only people who worked on the project was Mauri and myself! This score was an absolute collaboration between us.
She allowed me to incorporate audio elements from the footage so you’ll hear breaths, hands clapping on the equipment, and if you listen closely even the sound of skates on the ice! It’s my voice vocalizing and she let me play with ideas, and we distilled it down to what you hear onscreen.
I love scoring as it’s so different from what I’m known for as a performer - it’s a thrill being pushed out my musical box and exploring other styles, and I get to work with amazing creatives. I’m a lucky girl.
